Build Summary
Welcome to the production build of the Flat Pack Coffee Table A-1, an optimized digital fabrication project designed for seamless CNC routing and effortless assembly.
Fabrication Notes
Tooling & Pass Depth: The project was cleanly carved out of Raw MDF using a 6mm flat end mill. To ensure a smooth edge finish and preserve tool life, we utilized a 2-pass strategy with a 9mm pass depth per cycle. Smart Clearance: To prevent the tight-fit issues often encountered in digital woodworking, a precise 0.3mm clearance was integrated into all interlocking joint profiles. This allows the parts to slide together firmly without forcing the material. The Interlocking Base: The two lower support parts feature an interlocking system. When crossed and slotted into one another, they automatically form 4 distinct top protrusions (tenons). Pocketing the Top: For the underside of the circular tabletop, a pocket toolpath operation was applied. These pockets are precisely aligned to receive the 4 protrusions of the assembled base, locking the entire structure into square. Fastening: For the demonstration in our production video, we assembled the table as a dry-fit without any permanent bonding. However, for everyday residential use, we highly recommend applying a small amount of wood glue or underside screws to permanently secure the tabletop to the base.
