
Digital to physical! The first prototype of this piece is finally assembled in the shop.
I optimized this design for a zero-headache assembly. Parts fit perfectly right off the machine on the first try. Zero errors.
MDF thickness is 18mm. The interlocking slot gaps are set to 18.4mm
Note to self: It’s perfect as-is, but if I’m going to apply primer + paint, I need to increase the cutting offset tolerance in the software by an extra 0.2-0.3mm. So, making the slots around 18.8-19mm would be ideal to compensate for the paint thickness.
